Acupuncture and Dry Needling (Aetna Policy Update 2023)

As of April 5, 2023, Aetna has implemented updates to their policy, which can significantly impact how you provide and bill for your services.

Aetna Policy Update

Please take note of the following changes. As per the new Aetna policy these new DX's are considered experimental and not medically necessary:


"This CPB has been revised to state that acupuncture is considered experimental and investigational for abdominal obesity, mild cognitive impairment, occipital neuralgia, oral ulcer, renal colic, and sleep disturbance in individuals with cancer."
